This pistol marksman achieved a remarkable feat when he won the Olympic title twice, in London in 1948 and in Helsinki four years later. Takacs was a soldier and had lost his right hand when a grenade exploded in it. As he was right-handed he therefore had to learn to use his left hand for shooting, and then went on to these Olympic victories.
