This white sprinter achieved a nique feat in picking up three consecutive gold medals in the 4x100 m relay. He won his first at the Amsterdam games of 1928 after having come fourth in the individual event.He was again fourth in Berlin in 1936 after having won the relay alongside Jesse Owens. This was his third gold medal after the second one that he had picked up in Los Angeles four years earlier.
