Considered to be the best female fencer in the 1960's, Gorokhova took the World foil title in 1965 and 1970. Unfortunately at the Olympics she never managed to win in individual events, although she did manage to get a bronze in 1972. However, she was three times Olympic champion in team events in 1960, 1968 and 1972, and won the team silver in 1964.
