HAJOS Alfred (1878-1955), Hungary / Swimming
Barely 18, Hajos was the very first Modern Olympic swimming champion in Piraeus at the 1896 Athens games . He won the 100 metres and the 1200 metres, a distance no longer part of Olympic events. He became an architect, and won a second Olympic medal in Paris in 1924 for having designed and built a stadium, thus participating in the development of the sport.
