The Olympics have a very precise and inflexible ceremonial. The five interlocking rings, the flag, and the motto are all part of this ceremonial, as is, since 1958, the Olympic hymn, by the Greek composer Costis Palamas. But the hymn is not very well known and a bit old-fashioned. However, everyone remembers the song that was sung throughout the Barcelona games in 1992 sung by the rock singer Freddy Mercury and the Catalan opera singer Monserrat Caballe.
