BENOIT Joan (1957) United States / Track and field
She won the first woman's Olympic marathon, in Los Angeles in 1984, after having lead a solitary breakaway over more than 30 km. After she broke away in the fifth kilometre, her opponents never again caught sight of her number or famous white baseball cap. It should be said that she usually runs 200 kilometres - alone - every week.
